Members and Associates,
At the monthly ACM board meeting on Monday, September 19 the board approved a motion that our sole legislative agenda item for 2017 will be tax relief achieved through our donations being made tax deductible.
That recommendation to members will need to be approved by the membership at the ACM annual meeting in November on Friday, November 18 in Rochester, MN. ACM annual meeting to convene at approximately 11 am in the Rochester Arts Center, immediately following the Gambling Control Board monthly meeting.
If you have not already done so, please contact the candidates for state senator and state representative in your district to determine whether they agree that our current tax structure needs change and if the candidate would author legislation to make that change. For information on speaking to candidates go to the ACM website www.alliedcharitiesmn.org under the News tab to access those materials. Please let ACM know the results of your contacts at alliedchartiesmn@gmail.com
Registration for the convention is open and there are still hotel rooms available. Registration for the convention can be done by hard copy or on-line. Go to the ACM website www.alliedcharitiesmn.org under the Convention and Expo tab to print the registration or access the on-line registration.
ACM may have other legislative items that need to be introduced during the session, but we will not be initiating action unless deemed necessary by the board. This would only be done if it was determined necessary to protect our ability to serve our local communities and mission.
Members have the ability to make motions from the floor at the annual meeting to add items to our legislative agenda. Motions will need to be approved by a majority of voting members prior to being added to the legislative agenda.
Regards,
Al Lund
